Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb - British Columbia, Canada

Snowboard, Ski

Whistler Blackcomb is located 125 kilometres north of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada and is considered as one of the best alpine stations in the world. It’s the largest ski area in North America, consisting of 2,284 metres of spectacular beauty spread over two mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb. The two peaks are united by the world’s longest and unsupported, award winning Peak 2 Peak Gondola which is three kilometres long and gives you a chance to relax and enjoy the stunning views. You can alternate between the different mountains and endless runs whilst being surrounded by tree filled landscapes and champagne powder snow.

In Whistler Blackcomb, there is a whole universe to discover and there are some set itineraries to help you navigate your way around the finest points and trails. The first route, called the Harmony Sampler, is for intermediates and advanced and is full of bowls, steeps and groomers. The Crystal Ridge Sampler includes Blackcomb’s biggest secret, undulating cruiser descents through the powder filled glades. Top of the World has long runs for all levels and beautiful panoramic views of the station and British Columbia. The Steeps Sampler isn’t one route as such, it features a mix of the best steeps, double blacks and wooded trails for advanced and experts. The three runs in the Size Matters Route is where you’ll find the long leg burners with diverse terrains.

The Gold Medal Route offers you the chance to experience the runs that were used in the 2010 Winter Olympics Downhill competitions. This route requires an intermediate level. Finally, the Powder Stash Route is a collection of tree-lined trails with the freshest powder on the mountains allowing you to make your own tracks. It’ll take a whole day to complete them and they are only suitable for advanced and experts. If you really want a challenge, ask the locals about the run they call Khyber’s Pass. This will test even the most experienced powder skiers. Mums and Dads is more forgiving but still provides a challenge. Families also have a dedicated area, in the Family Certified Route you’ll find smooth slopes suitable for beginners and young children.
