Pelluhue - Cauquenes - Maule, Chile

Curanipe, which means ‘black stone’ in Mapudungun, is a Chilean town in the Pelluhue commune on the coast of the Cauquenes Province. It has a beautiful coastal landscape which you can relish at any time of the year. It’s known for the quality of its waves and abundant wind which brings windsurfers and other water sport enthusiasts from all over the world. It’s the perfect place for those that like to try out new places away from the norm.

Curanipe is a five hour drive from Santiago. To get there you’ll need to head south on the Pan-American highway until 277 kilometres where you’ll see the San Javier crossroad. From there head towards Constitución-Pelluhue. When you pass the Loncomilla Bridge, turn left onto the Los Conquistadores, in the direction of Cauquenes. Once in Cauquenes, follow the signs to Pelluhue - Curanipe. Curanipe is just past Pelluhue.

It is a very rideable wave that is fast and offers many vertical sections with side offshore wind conditions. The sandbank can change, sometimes making it difficult to connect the sections but you’ll still be able to make three good turns.
