Rocky Point

Rocky Point

Corralejo - Fuertevenura - Canary Islands, Spain

Kitesurf

This spot is in the city of Corralejo, in the extreme north of Fuerteventura. From there you can see the south coast of the neighbouring island, Lanzarote, and Los Lobos Island which is only a few minutes away by boat. On the right hand side of the bay, there are some rocky slabs that create waves which can be quite big with the right conditions. The W or SW cross shore wind is good but the NW is too onshore. The spot is popular all year round and its name describes it well as it’s quite rocky so be careful, especially at low tide. Corralejo is about 40 minutes away from the airport by car. You can also get the ‘guagua’, the local term for the bus, which will take you through various interesting villages. If you opt for the bus, take line 3 which takes ten minutes to get to Puerto del Rosario and then line 6 to Corralejo.

Conditions

On the right hand side of the bay there are some rocky slabs that create waves which can be quite big with the right conditions. The best wind directions are SW or SE  as they are quite constant. NW is too onshore. It’s a good spot for intermediates to advanced as with a good swell, the waves can reach 6 metres. The seabed is rocky and at low tide you can only go in and out in certain places.
