Big White offers an array of activities throughout the year but the resort also strives to organise a weekly event or some kind of world class theme party. A recommended option, especially if it’s your first visit to the station, is to utilise the services of Free Mountain Tours, where volunteers and experts show you around the mountain’s pistes and secrets for free.
Another interesting alternative is to experience a ride with Snowmobile Tours. They will take you through the woods on a snowmobile, with daily rides lasting between one and four hours, and also night rides where you can enjoy a delicious roast at the end. You’ll find them in Adventure Park.
With Dog Sled Tours, you can try one of the traditional sports in Canada and experience the rush when the dogs pull you through the woods. Tim Tedford is based at the right of the Adventure Park. He’ll give you a brief introduction before taking you on an unforgettable ride. The station offers 25 kilometres of prepared snowshoe and Nordic skiing trails which take you through the beautiful surroundings. The routes start at the left of the Adventure Center, which you’ll reach by taking the Happy Valley gondola from the village.
Life in the village is highlighted by a good selection of gastronomy options with more than eighteen restaurants to suit all budgets and a big avenue dedicated to sports and souvenirs shops, although it lacks in the nightlife department. There’s also a wine tasting route where you can delight your taste buds with the wine that’s produced locally in the Okanagan Valley. You’ll also find the highest ice skating rink in Canada in the village in front of the Happy Village Lodge.
