Navidad - O'Higgins, Chile

In Navidad you’ll find Matanzas, an exposed reefbreak which has very consistent waves. It’s a world class spot with well known waves like ‘Roca Cuadrada’, and where events like the world kitesurf championship, the Cristal Light Kitesurf Tour are celebrated. The best time of year is during the winter and the main break is generally quite small with gusty offshore wind at high tide, but just north of the city, near the shore, the waves are bigger and cleaner with cross shore conditions. The climate conditions, with winds of up to 30 knots, have transformed this place into one of the best options for riders that want strong wind. Each season there are more kitesurfers there thanks to the good climate conditions, the quietness of the spot, not only when you’re sailing but also to get in and out of the water, as well as the incredible places and virgin nature.

The wind is side shore and often enters at 11:00 until 20:00. The first section breaks in front of some rocks and after it’s sandy but the wave picks up speed there. It’s a fast and powerful left with barrel sections and it works best with a low rising tide.
