Val d’Isère

Val d’Isère - Gare Centrale - Rhone Alps , France

Val d’Isère Snowboard France

Val d’Isère together with its neighbouring resort Tignes is known as Espace Killy in honour of Jean-Claude Killy, the former world champion. If you want a change of scenery, with the Espace Killy pass you can also enjoy the neighbouring resort of Tignes, extending the skiable domain to around 300 kilometres, and its terrain parks and boardercross course. The Vanoise National Park in Naturelle de la Grande Sassière, is the second largest national park in Europe and has two zones. The inner zone is highly protected for the wildlife, especially the ibex and native flora, and the peripheral zone is where the small villages coexist with nature without the danger of losing their culture with the changes in the modern world.

You can find many activities in Val d’Isère, from polo championships and winter golf to film festivals. There is also a municipal sports centre with spas, swimming pools, a rock climbing wall and gyms. Families can leave young children at the Center de Loisiris. There is an ice skating rink at the base of the station and a large cinema. Val d’Isère has a rich culture and a walk through the traditional village is recommended. There is a big interest in environmental protection and traffic is restricted in the village. There are many shops and services, delicatessens and restaurants to suit all budgets as well as excellent nightlife in the bars and discos in the main street.
