Carmel Valley, like San Diego, has a predominantly dry Mediterranean climate and receives most rain in March. In April, the hot Santa Ana winds come, increasing the temperatures and causing heatwaves that don’t help skate sessions.
En Carmel Valley, al igual que en San Diego, predomina el clima mediterráneo seco y en general las lluvias son más acusadas en marzo. En el mes de abril predominan los vientos de Santa Ana que vienen calientes, aumentando la temperatura, pudiendo crear olas de calor que no facilitan las sesiones de skate.
This skatepark, open since 2008, has more than 12.000 square metres of ramp and street. It’s next to Carmel Valley Recreation Center, has restrooms and a structure to provide shade on hot days. Events like the Am Slam are celebrated there. You’ll find a big bowl and a large street zone that has two elevations surrounded by curves. On one of the elevated areas there are six steps with a handrail, 5 steps with hubbas-banks at both ends, along with a double high curved ledge and a low to high ledge. The other elevated area has a very wide pyramid, which can be used for hips, a flatrail which ends on a flat, a eurogap in the corner, a straight hubba and one going down. Around these elevated areas are curvings, quarters, hips, banks and 8 steps with a handrail.
Este skatepark, abierto desde 2008, tiene más de 12.000 metros cuadrados de rampa y calle. Queda al lado del Carmel Valley Recreation Center, tiene cuartos de baño y una estructura de sombra que se agradece cuando hace calor. Aquí se celebran eventos como el Am Slam. Podemos encontrar un gran bowl y una amplia zona de street que consta de dos elevaciones rodeada de curvings. En una de las elevaciones hay 6 escaleras con un handrail y 5 escaleras con hubbas-banks a ambos lados, además de un bordillo en curva de doble altura y un bordillo low to high. La otra elevación tiene aspecto de pirámide pero muy ancha, lo cual deja aprovechable un par de hips, un flatrail que cae al plano, un eurogap haciendo esquina y un hubba recto y en bajada. Rodeando estas elevaciones hay curvings, quarters, hips, banks y 8 escaleras con un handrail.
Garland Ranch Regional Park is a quiet place where you can enjoy the climate, the river or go on a good walk to the valley. There are many wine experts and so if you want to enjoy a good tasting session there are various options such as the Bernardus Winery and Vineyard, the Holman Ranch or the Boekenoogen Winery Tasting Room. San Diego city centre is 20 minutes away by car and there are many skateable places there along with many other things to see and do, like the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, the Botanical Building and Lily Pond, the pier and the Cabrillo National Monument.
Garland Ranch Regional Park es un lugar tranquilo para disfrutar del clima, el río o dar un buen paseo hasta el valle.
