Keramus is a wave that offers opportunities to every good surfer. If it’s small it’s very rideable and fun and offers some small barrels and kind round sections. If it gets big it changes into a powerful, fast, high level wave where the barrels of some waves reach the inside. In other barrels you’ll have an open door in front of you and a perfect section where you can let your imagination run wild.

You can catch waves from 3 ft to 10 ft but from 5 or 6 ft is when they show their true power and start breaking boards. In the rainy season, although it’s not as consistent, it’s more common to have glassy days or days with light NW offshore wind. The best swells come during the dry season and it’s the best time of year to surf before the wind picks up. It’s important to keep in mind that as the morning progresses, an onshore wind appears and can ruin the conditions, however, if it is not too strong, Keramus it can amazingly still be surfed.

Keramas es una ola que a todo buen surfer le da una oportunidad, con 3 pies es muy surfeable y divertida, ofrece algún tubo y buenos bowls. Si se pone grande se convierte en una ola que exige cierto nivel, muy potente, rápida, en algunas olas el tubo llega hasta el inside, a veces este tubo te dejará una puerta abierta con una sección perfecta para dejar volar tu imaginación.

Se pueden coger olas desde 3 ft a 10 ft, siendo con 5 o 6 ft cuando empieza a mostrar su verdadera fuerza empezando a partir tablas. La temporada de lluvias aunque no es tan consistente es más usual tener días glassy o con ligero NW que aquí es off shore. Es durante la temporada seca cuando entran los mejores swell y cuando se dan los mejores baños del año antes de que salte el viento. Es importante tener en cuenta que conforme avanza la mañana normalmente aparece viento onshore estropeando las condiciones, sin embargo, si no es demasiado intenso Keramas seguirá siendo sorprendentemente muy surfeable.

To get there you have to go to the east coast of Denpasar, follow the signs towards Gianyar and look for the ‘Doctor Ida bagus Mantra’ road that runs along the coast. Para llegar tienes que dirigirte hacia la costa, al este desde Denpasar, sigue las indicaciones hacia Gianyar y busca la carretera ‘Doctor Ida Bagus Mantra’ que bordea la costa. Hace un tiempo había un cartel desaparecido que te indicaba cuando tenías que girar a la derecha, de todas formas estarás muy cerca, así que, simplemente pregúntale a alguien, es probable que incluso te guie hasta la misma playa de Keramas. En todo el trayecto y como norma general en Bali, hay que prestar atención al intenso tráfico y a llevar los papeles en regla.

La belleza del lugar, la increíble afluencia de público y la calidad del surfing que se desarrolla hacen que sea una de las pruebas más prestigiosas del WCT.
