It is a very rideable wave that is fast and offers many vertical sections with side offshore wind conditions. The sandbank can change, sometimes making it difficult to connect the sections but you’ll still be able to make three good turns.
Es una ola muy surfera, con viento side offshore y con muchas secciones. La ola es rápida y vertical. El banco de arena suele cambiar y a veces no conectan bien las secciones pero igualmente tiene tres giros buenos.
Curanipe, which means ‘black stone’ in Mapudungun, is a Chilean town in the Pelluhue commune on the coast of the Cauquenes Province. It has a beautiful coastal landscape which you can relish at any time of the year. It’s known for the quality of its waves and abundant wind which brings windsurfers and other water sport enthusiasts from all over the world. It’s the perfect place for those that like to try out new places away from the norm.
Curanipe is a five hour drive from Santiago. To get there you’ll need to head south on the Pan-American highway until 277 kilometres where you’ll see the San Javier crossroad. From there head towards Constitución-Pelluhue. When you pass the Loncomilla Bridge, turn left onto the Los Conquistadores, in the direction of Cauquenes. Once in Cauquenes, follow the signs to Pelluhue – Curanipe. Curanipe is just past Pelluhue.
Curanipe, que significa ‘Piedra Negra’ en mupudungun, es una localidad chilena situada en la costa de la Provincia de Cauquenes, sede del municipio de Pelluhue. Tiene un hermoso paisaje costero el cual se puede disfrutar en cualquier época del año. Es conocido por sus características olas y el viento abundante, lo que atrae a windsurfistas y entusiastas de otros deportes acuáticos. A lo largo de la playa existen miradores y pasarelas. Es el sitio perfecto para aquellos que les gusta experimentar lugares fuera de lo común.
Curanipe se encuentra a cinco horas en coche desde Santiago. Para llegar hay que tomar la Panamericana sur hasta el kilómetro 277, donde se encuentra el cruce San Javier. Desde aquí has de ir en dirección Constitución-Pelluhue. Una vez pasado el puente Loncomilla se gira a la izquierda por la ruta Los Conquistadores, dirección Cauquenes. Una vez en Cauquenes has de seguir el letrero Pelluhue – Curanipe, y pasado Pelluhue llegarás a tu destino.
The Pelluhue commune consists of many villages spread over the whole area but the most populated areas are on the coast. These coastal villages are very small but they offer diverse tourist activities like surfing, bodyboarding, photography, walking and fishing among others. There is another windsurf spot at La Sirena beach which is only five kilometres towards the south of Curanipe, before the Chovellen River.
La comuna de Pelluhue cuenta con múltiples localidades repartidas por toda su geografía, las zonas más pobladas se ubican en la costa y los poblados del litoral son muy pequeños, pero ambas realidades ofrecen una diversidad que se ve reflejada en las actividades turísticas que se desarrollan, como surf, bodyboard, fotografía, caminar, pesca de orilla, entre otras. Hay winsurfistas que suelen ir a la Sirena, una playa a unos 5 kilómetros hacia el Sur de Curanipe, antes de llegar al rio Chovellen.
