The large flat water lagoon has a sandy bottom, is shallow at low tide and deep at high tide. There is a reefbreak approximately one kilometre out from the beach. High season in winter is from December to April and during this time the predominant wind is known as Kaskasi. It blows sideshore, from south to north, at between 11 to 22 knots every day, sometimes reaching 25 knots. You can do a downwinder along nearly the whole of the island’s east coast. The other high season is in the summer, from June to October. During this period, the Kusini, north to south, wind blows and is normally between 10 to 19 knots, sometimes reaching more than 20.
La gran laguna de agua flat tiene fondo de arena, poco profunda en marea baja y profunda en marea alta. Se forman olas en el arrecife de coral a un kilómetro de la playa. Paje is a village on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. It’s located on the southeast of the island, between the villages Bwejuu and Jambiani. Although there are other potential spots in the north of the island, this is the one which you’ll see featured the most in videos and magazines. There’s a lagoon which is perfect for beginners and freeriders as it receives a very consistent onshore wind nearly the whole year round.
The water is shallow during low tide, the bottom is sandy and the reef protects it from the waves. During high tide it’s possible to sail outside of the reef, where the waves break more cleanly. Downwinders are also an option. There are good installations, including kitesurf schools, equipment rental places and rescue services. You can reach there by plane from Zanzibar Airport in Stone Town which is one hour away from Paje. You could also fly to Dar es Salaam, on the continent, and get the ferry to Zanzibar. The ferry port is just a few kilometres from the airport and the crossing takes 20 to 30 minutes.

El ferry se encuentra a pocos kilómetros del aeropuerto y tarda de 20 a 30 minutos.
Stone Town is the most important city on the island. It’s name came from the reddish coral stone used for a lot of the city’s construction. The architecture, which was influenced by various cultures, and the old Indian style carved wooden doors are very characteristic. It’s a nice place to go out for a drink as there is good nightlife with excellent music.
The island was the birthplace of Freddie Mercury. Nungwi beach has a special charm and there are around 20 excellent places where you can go scuba diving or snorkelling. It’s a fishing town and the fisherman live off building boats and selling their catch directly on the beach. If you walk towards the lighthouse on the beach, you’ll come across an aquarium with marine turtles. In the Jozani Natural Park you can see two protected monkey species that can only be found in Zanzibar. They are the famous blue and red monkeys which live in the same jungle but are divided in groups. You can see them interacting up close in a spectacular environment surrounded by dense vegetation.
Stone Town es la ciudad más importante de la isla, llamada la ciudad de la piedra es popular por sus calles, por el centro histórico y por las puertas de las casas labradas a mano, es la mejor opción para salir a tomar algo, ya que cuenta con una animada vida nocturna, amante de la buena música, La ciudad fue la cuna de genios como Freddy Mercury y Tracy Chapman.
La playa de Nungwi tiene un encanto especial por las preciosas inmersiones que podréis realizar, hay 20 destinos localizados, no es necesario contratar a un monitor ya que si os gusta el buceo libre, podréis por vuestros propios medios disfrutar la inmersión haciendo snorkel. Es un poblado de pescadores que viven de la construcción de barcos y de la venta directa en la playa de pescado. En la playa si vas paseando hacia el faro, encontrarás un acuario con tortugas marinas. En el Parque Natural de Jozani podrás contemplar a dos especies de monos protegidos que sólo se encuentran en Zanzíbar, Son los famosos monos azules y rojos que viven en el mismo bosque, pero divididos en grupos; los verás desde muy cerca relacionándose en un entorno espectacular rodeado de densa vegetación.
